IT'S A GO! WE ARE ON THE UNOS LIST!

We heard today from USC that Kenny is now listed!
It feels somewhat bittersweet today. The transplant coordinator did talk with us about a somewhat increased risk during Ken's surgery due to his unique anatomy. They will have to use a different technique and it will increase his recovery time. They project a minimum hospital stay of 14 days. Please pray with us as we prepare our hearts and bodies and household for what is to come. Timing is everything and that is in the Lord's hands.
For those of you still a little uninformed, the UNOS list stands for the United Network for Organ Sharing. There is a link to this site on this page. UNOS recently changed thier criteria for transplant and now gives everybody a score based on health informtion and test results. This number changes as the patient's heath improves or decreases. It is a far better system and we have been warned repeatedly to be ready. They have seen patients like Ken go to surgery in as soon as two weeks. One rare case was same day! They of course, can give us no timeframe, but it is more an issue of months, even weeks vs. years. HANG ON EVERYBODY!! GOD IS ON THE MOVE!!
